What You'll Need
Mac running macOS 12.0 or later
Measurement microphone (UMIK-1, EMM-6, or similar)
Speakers in their final positions
Quiet room (turn off AC, close windows)

Install & Launch
1 minute- 1Download Sounn from the official website
- 2Drag to Applications folder
- 3Open Sounn
- 4Allow microphone access when prompted

Setup Audio Devices
2 minutes- 1Click the gear icon (top-right) to open Settings
- 2Go to Devices
- 3Select your microphone as Input Device
- 4Select your speakers/interface as Output Device
- 5Click Start Monitoring to verify mic signal
- 6Optional: Click Import Calibration to load your mic's calibration file

Take a Measurement
3 minutes- 1Place microphone at your listening position (ear height when seated)
- 2Point omnidirectional mics straight up
- 3From Dashboard, click New Measurement
- 4Follow the wizard: enter room dimensions, select 3 positions (recommended), verify mic signal
- 5Stay quiet during measurement
The test signal sounds like noise — this is normal!

Generate Correction
1 minute- 1Go to Correct tab
- 2Select your measurement session
- 3Choose a target curve:
- Flat — Reference/mixing
- Harman In-Room — Home theater/music (recommended)
- House Curve A — Warm, cinema-like
- 4Click Generate Filters
- 5Click Apply to Audio

Enable Correction
30 seconds- 1Go to Dashboard
- 2Toggle Correction to ON
- 3Play some music
- 4Toggle on/off to hear the difference!
You're Done!
Your room is now corrected. For best results:
- Take a corrected measurement to verify improvement
- Experiment with target curves to find your preference
- Re-measure if you move speakers or furniture

Pro Tips
- Use a microphone stand for consistent positioning — never measure handheld
- Set test signal volume to approximately 75dB at listening position
- Start with Harman In-Room curve if unsure — it's research-based and works well for most people
- If correction sounds unnatural, increase smoothing or reduce max boost
