Quick Start Guide

Get professional room correction running in under 15 minutes

What You'll Need

Mac running macOS 12.0 or later
Calibrated measurement microphone
Speakers/system in final positions
Quiet room for measurement

Download & Install

2 minutes
  1. 1Download Sounn Room Correction from the website
  2. 2Open the DMG and drag to Applications
  3. 3Launch Sounn and complete the onboarding wizard
  4. 4Grant microphone permission when prompted

Configure Devices

3 minutes
  1. 1Open Settings (gear icon, top-right)
  2. 2Go to Devices section
  3. 3Select your measurement microphone as input
  4. 4Select your audio interface as output
  5. 5Click Import Calibration to load your mic's calibration file
  6. 6Use Test Tone to verify output

Take Measurements

5-10 minutes
  1. 1Place microphone at your primary listening position (ear height)
  2. 2Point omnidirectional mics straight up
  3. 3From Dashboard, click New Measurement
  4. 4Enter room dimensions (optional but recommended)
  5. 5Select number of positions (3-5 recommendedfor home theater)
  6. 6Follow the wizard—stay quiet during each measurement
The MLS test signal sounds like pink noise — this is normal! Set volume to ~75dB at listening position.

Generate Filters

2 minutes
  1. 1Go to Correct tab
  2. 2Select your measurement session as source
  3. 3Choose a target curve:
    • Flat — Mixing/mastering
    • Harman In-Room — Home theater/music (recommended)
    • House Curve A — Cinema-style warmth
  4. 4Adjust settings if needed (defaults work well)
  5. 5Click Generate Filters

Apply & Verify Correction

2 minutes
  1. 1Click Apply to Audio in filter details
  2. 2Go to Dashboard
  3. 3Toggle Correction to ON
  4. 4Play familiar music or content
  5. 5Toggle correction on/off to hear the difference

You're Done!

Your room is now corrected. For best results:

  • Take a Corrected Measurement to verify improvement
  • Experiment with different target curves
  • Export filters for use in external hardware/software
  • Re-measure if you move speakers or furniture

Pro Tips

  • For surround systems, measure each channel group separately for best results
  • Set subwoofer level and crossover before measuring
  • Start with Harman In-Room curve—it's research-based and sounds natural
  • If correction sounds unnatural, increase smoothing or reduce max boost
  • Export filters to use the same correction in Roon, JRiver, or miniDSP
