Quick Start

5-minute guide to room correction

Follow these steps to take your first measurement and generate correction filters. Total time: approximately 5 minutes.

Before You Start

  • Sounn is installed and running (see installation guide)
  • Measurement microphone connected and selected in Settings
  • Speakers connected and playing audio through Sounn
  • Room is quiet (close doors, turn off fans/HVAC)
1

Position Your Microphone

30 seconds

Place your measurement microphone at your listening position, at ear height when seated. Use a stable stand—don't hold it by hand.

Tip

Point omnidirectional microphones straight up toward the ceiling.
2

Start a New Measurement

15 seconds

Open Sounn and click "New Measurement" from the Dashboard. The Measurement Wizard will guide you through the process.

3

Enter Room Dimensions

30 seconds

Enter your room's length, width, and height in meters. This helps Sounn predict room modes. Measure wall-to-wall at floor level.

4

Run the Measurement

60 seconds

Click Start Measurement. Sounn will play a test signal through your speakers. Stay quiet and still during the measurement.

Important

The MLS test signal sounds like static noise. Set your speakers to moderate volume—about 75dB at the listening position.
5

Generate Correction Filters

30 seconds

After measurement completes, go to the Correct tab. Select your measurement and click "Generate Filters". Choose your target curve (Harman In-Room is a great starting point).

6

Enable Correction

15 seconds

Click "Apply to Audio" then go to Dashboard. Toggle Correction to ON. Play some music and enjoy your corrected sound!

You're Correcting!

Your room correction is now active. Play your favorite music and listen to the difference. Toggle correction on/off from the Dashboard to compare.
