Getting Started

Welcome to Sounn Room Correction. This guide will walk you through downloading, installing, and setting up your first measurement.

Sounn is built exclusively for macOS and optimized for Apple Silicon.

Apple Silicon Optimized

Sounn is built as a universal binary with native Apple Silicon support. M1, M2, and M3 Macs will see significantly better performance for filter generation and real-time processing.

Installation

Download Sounn

Download the latest version from our website. Sounn is a universal binary that works on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Install the App

Open the DMG file and drag Sounn to your Applications folder. Eject the disk image when done.

Connect Your Microphone

Plug in your measurement microphone. We recommend the miniDSP UMIK-1 or UMIK-2 for accurate measurements.

Configure Audio Devices

Open Sounn, go to Settings, and select your input (microphone) and output (speakers) devices.

Drag Sounn to your Applications folder to install

First Launch

When you first open Sounn, you'll be greeted by the onboarding wizard.

The welcome screen introduces you to Sounn's core capabilities. Click Get Started to continue.

Audio Device Setup

Before taking measurements, configure your audio devices properly.

Configuring Input Device (Microphone)

  1. Click the gear icon in the top-right to open Settings
  2. Navigate to the Devices section
  3. Click the dropdown under "Input Device"
  4. Select your measurement microphone
  5. Click Start Monitoring to verify signal detection
  6. Speak or clap—the level meter should respond

Configuring Output Device (Speakers)

  1. Click the dropdown under "Output Device"
  2. Select your audio interface or speaker connection
  3. Use the Test Tone feature to verify playback
  4. Available test frequencies: 100Hz, 1kHz, 10kHz

Volume Warning

Before playing test tones, set your speaker volume to a moderate level to avoid hearing damage or speaker damage.

For accurate room measurements, use a calibrated omnidirectional measurement microphone.
