Sounn is exclusively available for macOS. There are currently no plans for Windows or Linux versions.

Apple Silicon Performance

Sounn is built as a universal binary with native Apple Silicon support. On M-series chips, you can expect:

Filter generation: 2-3x faster than comparable Intel Macs
Real-time processing: Lower CPU usage, better efficiency
Memory usage: More efficient unified memory architecture

Audio Hardware

Input (Measurement Microphone)

A measurement microphone is required for taking room measurements:

USB measurement microphones (recommended: miniDSP UMIK-1/UMIK-2)
XLR microphones with audio interface (Dayton EMM-6, Earthworks, etc.)
Any Core Audio compatible input device

Not for Continuous Use

The measurement microphone is only needed during the measurement process. You can disconnect it after measuring and use Sounn for correction without a mic connected.

Output (Speakers/Interface)

Sounn works with any Core Audio compatible output device:

Built-in Mac speakers (limited benefit due to speaker limitations)
USB DACs and audio interfaces
Thunderbolt audio interfaces
Bluetooth speakers (not recommended for measurement)
AirPlay devices (not recommended for measurement)

Network Requirements

Internet connection is required for:

License activation (one-time)
Software updates (periodic)

Sounn does not require an active internet connection for day-to-day operation after initial activation.

Permissions Required

Microphone Access

Required for room measurements. Grant when prompted or enable in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.

Audio Device Access

Required for audio playback and correction. Automatically available for all audio applications.

Intel Mac Performance

While Sounn runs on Intel Macs meeting minimum requirements, real-time FIR processing with long filters may require reduced buffer sizes or shorter FIR lengths on older Intel machines.
