How Sounn Works

Four simple steps to transform your listening environment

Step 1

Measure

Capture Your Room's Acoustic Signature

Using a calibrated measurement microphone, Sounn plays precisely crafted test signals and records your room's response. The MLS (Maximum Length Sequence) technology captures everything—direct sound, reflections, resonances, and decay characteristics.

MLS test signal for excellent signal-to-noise ratio
Each position takes approximately 1.5 seconds
Support for 1-9 measurement positions
Automatic multi-position averaging
Step 2

Analyze

Understand Your Room's Problems

Our analysis engine processes the captured data to identify frequency response deviations, room modes, reverberation time, early reflections, and phase anomalies. You receive a detailed quality score and actionable recommendations.

Quality grade from A (excellent) to D (needs treatment)
Peak and null detection with specific frequencies
RT60 reverberation analysis per octave band
Room mode identification from dimensions
Step 3

Correct

Generate Precision Filters

Based on the analysis, Sounn generates precision correction filters tailored to your room. The hybrid FIR+IIR architecture ensures linear phase in critical mid/high frequencies and efficient bass correction with minimal latency.

4,096 FIR taps for mid/high frequency precision
Up to 31 IIR bands for efficient bass correction
Smooth crossover between filter types (200-300Hz)
Configurable smoothing, boost limits, and target curves
Step 4

Enjoy

Experience Transformed Sound

Enable real-time processing and experience your room transformed. Music sounds more detailed and natural. Movies become more immersive. Mixing decisions translate accurately to other systems.

Toggle correction on/off instantly for A/B comparison
System-wide or per-application processing
Minimal CPU usage in background operation
Works with all audio sources on your Mac

Quick Start Guide

1

Create a Room Profile

Press ⌘N to create a new profile. Name your room and select your speaker configuration.

2

Run the Measurement Wizard

Follow the guided process. We recommend 3-5 positions for optimal results.

3

Enable Correction

Generate filters and toggle processing on from the Dashboard. Start listening!

Measurement Best Practices

Room Preparation

  • Close windows and doors to minimize external noise
  • Turn off HVAC, fans, and noisy appliances
  • Set speaker volume to moderate level (~75dB)
  • Allow equipment to warm up for 15+ minutes

Microphone Positioning

  • Place at ear height when seated (~1 meter)
  • Point straight up for omnidirectional mics
  • Keep at least 1 meter from walls
  • Use 3-5 positions for optimal averaging
